Antique 1875 Rare French Medical Human Anatomy Diagram Flap Book
Anatomie Iconoclastique, a pictorial manikin, movable atlas By Professor Gustave Witkowski.
This unique book contains a complete diagram of multi-layered chromolithography illustrating
and identifying each part of the human body.
The French instructions opposite the art work explain how to use this piece.
1) the numbers in figures indicate order of layering of pieces where appliques move.
2) The arrows who accompany the numbers order indicate the senses in which he should operate
the shift of these pieces. Size is 14.75″ x 10.75″
The book was designed for use in teaching medical students of this time period.
One of these rare pieces can be seen at the Museum Of Royal College Of Physicians.
There is deffinitely wear & discoloration to the cover and inner page of this book.
Amazingly however, the the colored diagram and all flaps are completely intact with no tears!
This is a fascinating and rare find for the collector of medical antiques.
